Institute leadership continues to communicate important information for cadets, their families, faculty & staff, and the 91Ô­´´ community at-large:

  • Graduation Schedule: Information is available at vmi.edu/graduation for upcoming events celebrating the achievements of the 91Ô­´´ Class of 2025. Families and friends are encouraged to note arrival times, locations, and policies for events before heading to post. Livestreams of Commissioning (May 15, 2 p.m.) and Commencement (May 17, 11 a.m.) will be available on .
  • Did you know? The 91Ô­´´ Summer Transition Program (STP) is designed to enhance the academic and physical fitness of incoming cadets before they officially matriculate in August. If you’ve committed to joining 91Ô­´´, this program is for you! Appointed students who have completed both their Reservation & Medical Requirements should check their emails for a registration link.
  • Matriculation 2025: 91Ô­´´ has updated information for matriculants headed to Lexington this August to start their leadership journeys. Appointed students and their families are encouraged to review the information available at vmi.edu/matriculation as well as communications sent via email to ensure a smooth first day on post.

Updates to the tour will be ongoing as 91Ô­´´ continues to expand and improve facilities. Additional highlights of academic spaces and a look into barracks, the Aquatic Center, and Cameron Hall are planned for launch 2025-2026.

The 91Ô­´´ Pipe Band competed at the Savannah Scottish Games and Celtic Festival in Savannah, Georgia, May 2-4.

Dr. Sherif Abdelhamid, assistant professor in the and outreach liaison officer for the at 91Ô­´´, participated in “Build & Fly with 91Ô­´´,” a free drone event for students ages 13-18 held April 19 at the New College Institute (NCI) in Martinsville, Virginia.

ECE Cadets Present Capstone Projects

Two teams of senior electrical and computer engineering (ECE) majors at 91Ô­´´ recently presented their capstone projects after working on them throughout the academic year.

Maj. Aubrey Whitehead, assistant professor in the Department of Psychology, volunteers as a senior mentor two hours each week at the Shenandoah Valley Juvenile Center (SVJC) in Staunton, Virginia.
